Water Decor
was opened by Blagdon Water Gardens in 1987 and managed by Richard Bateman.
Richard brought the business in 1995 and has run the business with his
daughter Sara for the last fourteen years.
As a family business, Water Decor prides itself on quality goods, quality
service, competitive pricing and providing customers with a wealth of
support and information. We take pride in our business and make every
effort to provide our customers with the products and service that will
meet and exceed their expectations.
We carry a large and diverse range of products from ponds to piranha!
and if an item is not in stock we make every effort to supply it to
the customer as soon as possible. As an independent retailer, over the
years we have built up a large supplier base that gives us the scope
to find and locate some of the rarer and more obscure products.
A very large display of self contained water features, including Henri
Studio, are also on display with may set up and working. We also offer
pond construction and landscaping etc.
Large pond projects are also undertaken including specialist filtration,
and example being Thorstry Hall, Nottingham.

Richard
Bateman
Richard has been the manager and latterly owner of Water Decor
for over 22 years. He is a keen angler and his passion for fish
catching and keeping is what led to him entering the aquatic trade
all those years ago.
Richard's vast wealth of knowledge about everything aquatic, from
pond construction to disease control, has helped us to build a
large customer base over the years.
Whatever your problem, Richard always has the right advice to
help.

Sara
Bateman
As a youngster, Sara was always surrounded by Richard's
many ponds and aquariums at their home. Her passion for fish keeping
started with her fist part time job at the age of 16 at Water
Decor. She enjoyed it so much she never left!
Sara now manages the shop for her father and her aspirations are
to one day run the business for herself. Sara's father has been
a fantastic role model for her and has taught her everything he
knows over the years.
Sara is Water Decor's resident marine expert and also undertakes
pond and waterfall construction.

Tom
Tom has worked at Water Decor for over a year,
He is a keen fish hobbyist who keeps and breeds many different
species of Malawi and Tanganyikan cichlids.
He
has an excellent knowledge of all tropical, cold water and marine
fish, he also has a good understanding of all related products
and equipment.
Tom is currently studying for a degree in chemistry at Birmingham
University.

Mike The Pacu!!
Hello, My name
is Mike. I am a pacu which is a type of vegetarian piranha.
I am just
over 7 years old and have lived here at Water Decor for nearly
all of my life.
When
i first arrived here I was about 3” long, I am now over 18” but
I will eventually grow to over 30” and live to be over 20 years
old!!!!
My favorite foods are tomatoes, oranges and bananas, but I will
eat pretty much anything that you put into my tank (including
children’s wiggling fingers)
